OHAD

Success. I finally got one hour of piecing done yesterday. I have almost finished the fourth row of the apple core wall hanging. When this is completed my next project for during lunch hour at work is to finish cutting the pieces for my Patchwork Party 2008 blocks.

I have also made a great decision. James and I discussed how little use we get out of our family room in the lower level of our bi-level. I am going to take it over as my sewing room. It is about 30% of the house. What a wonderful place it will be. I will have room for all my sewing machines to be set up and maybe if I am a really good girl I will be able to by a long arm quilting machine and there will be room for it too. WOW!

Have a great day, Karen

No progress

Well......
I must be in a book reading mood. When I get home from work at night the first thing in my hands is the book I am currently reading and the last thing in my hands is what ever book I am reading. I really must get out of this rut.

That being said, I pledge to myself that tonight I will fix dinner, eat dinner, take all the dirty laundry downstairs to the laundry room (which is next to my sewing room) and do laundry. While the machines are working I will be in my sewing room without a book.

Now let's see if I can keep my word to myself. LOL

One Hour A Day (OHAD)

One of my blog buddies came up with this idea. Yesterday I actually was successful. I pieced for one hour on my apple core wall hanging. I almost have three of the five rows completed.

This is a hand piecing project. I tried the "Curve Master" and was not successful. Back to the basics. There are twenty five apple cores in five rows. Each core is a different fabric. Have you ever tried to find 25 different red fabrics? What fun for my stash, but what a chore.

Today my lunch hour is my own so I will finish the third row and start on the fourth. Tomorrow is also available, so I may finish the last row and then I start putting the rows together. Wish me luck.

I think I am in a fog

I had planned to piece my apple core quilt during lunch yesterday and then forgot to take lunch.

Today was our company chorus rehersal so I didn't bring my portable bag with needles etc. Rehersal was canceled and I didn't have anything to work on. Bummer!

I did read a little of my "Foundation" trilogy instead. Maybe I will get some quilting in tonight.

I went to a Caregiver's Support group last night. There were four of us and the moderator. It felt good to be with others who were walking my walk and we shared what was happening in our life and offered suggestions where it seemed they would be acceptable. James is having one of his bad days and he has pestered me here at work many times. I just want to escape...but there is no where to go.

Well, I will see what the evening brings.

Mother's Day

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. My husband took me out for breakfast and supper and I got to choose the restaurants. We vegged out most of the day. I was planning on working in my studio/sewing room, but got caught up in a good book and read all day. That is, except when I took a nap.

Tonight is my Caregiver's Support group. This will be the first meeting that I attend. I am looking forward to it. It will be good to talk face to face with other's in my situation.

Today I will be working on my apple core wall hanging during my lunch hour. I plan on getting another row done. I am looking foward to it.

That's about all.

Some success

Well yesterday was filled with some quilting...finally. I finished the second row of my apple core wall hanging. Don't go into awe; it is only five cores by five so that was only four seams.

I also managed to sneak in my BOM package into the house and get it into my sewing room. (I don't like to sneak my quilting purchases in, but it is the only way.) I received three wall hanging kits from my favorite not LQS in the mail Monday. I had to call the shop yesterday. The fabrics are not identified and I don't want to cut until I know what I am doing.

This weekend is mother's day and it is supposed to rain all day Sunday here in the Cincinnati area. What a better way to spend a rainy day than working in my sewing room.

Have a wonderful weekend and wonderful Mother's Day.

It's been a while

Sorry not to post anything in so long. I have finally completed my move at work to the new building and gotten all my "stuff" put away (hidden). I am trying the nothing on the desk but my current project plan. Wish me luck.

I haven't pieced or quilted yet this week. Today I will be able to hand piece during my lunch hour. How nice. I am still working on my apple core wall hanging. I think it will turn out nice.

Saturday we will celebrate Mother's day with my mother-in-law. Sunday is my celebration. I will do anything I want and nothing I don't want. I will be on strike for the day. My daughter is camping this weekend. Tomorrow I will be bringing her mother's day card and gift to her here at work. She was born in Michigan and travels there at least twice a year. I was on a road trip this past weekend and picked up a box of dried cherries for her. She will be so happy as her stash of cherries has run out. Oh, I wish she would get into quilting. Then there would be someone to pass along my stash to when I can no longer quilt.

I need to finish going through my sewing room/quilt area/clothes making area and find the rest of my UFO's. I have several patterns for skirts and jumpers that I need to make for my wardrobe. It will be a busy summer.

Have a great day, Karen
